SPOONLIVE Today
SPOONLIVE has morphed into a nonprofit in the USA and an association loi du 1er juillet 1901 in France.
We promote and educate people on ways to have better health & feel better. We do this by organizing classes, lectures, workshops, fashion and art events around well-being themes and sustainability practices, to inspire a global health movement that encourages people to make healthier lifestyle choices.
The well-being of humanity depends on the health and integrity of nature. Human health relies on ecosystem resources such as clean air, pure water, and clean food. This includes products and services we consume.
What happened to SPOON Magazine? Stay tuned: a documentary series is being made about its remarkable story, how it became a trendsetter in the fashion industry, and what happened to it.
The History of SPOON Magazine
SPOON Magazine started in Paris, France, in 1996 as the first online-only fashion magazine. This Webzine gained international attention and press coverage for its avant-garde fine art and fashion photography. The following fall of 1997, the first print issue came out; Vol 1 SPOON was 6 ½ x 6 ½ inches, with staples. Vol 2 SPOON was the last issue to be printed with staples (which was more expensive) and came out in the spring of 1998. SPOON Vol. 3 came out in the Fall of 1998, and from then on, SPOON magazine was a biannual publication.
SPOON Vol 8 came out in the Spring of 2001; this issue was the start of a new creative direction, as Malissa Stawicki bought out her partners Patrice and Karine. With a new creative team, two new issues were created: SPOON Men and SPOON Beauty. The first publication, Vol 1 SPOON Men, came out in Spring 2001 during men’s fashion week and was a bi-annual magazine, as SPOON (women). SPOON Beauty Vol 1 came out in the Summer of 2001 and was published annually.
The last issue, Vol 4 SPOON Beauty, GIRLS ON FILM, came out in 2003. This was the first issue for which a DVD of “the making of” the magazine's fashion shoots was made. Celebrity actress Monica Bellucci was featured, and SPOON held a party during the Cannes Film Festival. SPOON LTD signed a content distribution deal with FashionTV at this time. With a global reach and influence of this cable network, FashionTV, SPOON magazines would reach 5 million households.
Soon after signing the cable distribution deal with FashionTV, SPOON LTD faced adversity, which led to its closing. There is currently a documentary series being made of the SPOON Magazine story.
SPOON Magazine is being relaunched in a different format and will launch in the fall of 2026 during Paris Fashion Week!
